What is Nammude Atlanta?
Nammude Atlanta is a free online community platform for Malayali (Kerala) families in metro Atlanta, Georgia. It brings together community events, a curated directory of local businesses, a guide for newcomers and an organized WhatsApp Community. It is independent and not affiliated with Atlanta's Malayali associations such as AMMA (Atlanta Metro Malayalee Association) or GAMA (Greater Atlanta Malayalee Association); it aims to complement them, never compete.
Is Nammude Atlanta free to join?
Yes. Joining is free for families, always. You register with your name, email and mobile number, then join the Nammude Atlanta WhatsApp Community. The platform is supported by local business partners and sponsors, and it never sells your personal data.
How do I join the Atlanta Malayali WhatsApp community?
Fill in the short form on the Nammude Atlanta homepage (first name, last name, email and mobile), then tap the WhatsApp Community link that appears. An admin approves new members in WhatsApp, usually within a day. Everyone gets announcements; you join only the topic groups you care about.
Where can I find Malayali and Indian events in Atlanta?
The Nammude Atlanta events page lists upcoming Malayali, Kerala, Indian and desi events across metro Atlanta — with dates, times, venues and a link to the organizer. Events are checked by the team before they are published, and the WhatsApp Community gets a weekly digest of what's coming up.
I just moved to Atlanta. Where do I start?
Start with the New to Atlanta guide. It covers where Malayali families live, choosing a school district, first-week essentials like Indian groceries, a Georgia driver's license, banking and pediatricians, and staying connected to home. Then join the WhatsApp Community's New to Atlanta group to ask families for first-hand advice.
Which areas of metro Atlanta have the most Malayali families?
Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Cumming, Suwanee and Duluth have the largest Malayali presence in metro Atlanta, according to the Nammude Atlanta newcomer guide. These suburbs offer strong schools and easy access to Indian groceries, temples and churches. Families also live in Marietta, Lawrenceville and across Gwinnett and Forsyth counties.
Is Onam celebrated in Atlanta?
Yes. Malayali associations such as AMMA and GAMA, churches, temples and community groups across metro Atlanta celebrate Onam and Vishu every year, and Nammude Atlanta holds its own signature Onam celebration. Upcoming celebrations appear on the Nammude Atlanta events page once dates are confirmed.
How do I list my business in the Nammude Atlanta directory?
Use "List your business" on the Nammude Atlanta homepage or email hello@nammudeatlanta.com. The directory is curated for trust and relevance to Malayali families in Atlanta, and businesses from any background are welcome. Partners can also share community offers and appear at signature events.
How do I get my event listed?
Email hello@nammudeatlanta.com with the event name, date, time, venue and a link to the official page. The team reviews every event before it appears on the site and in the WhatsApp Community.
Who runs Nammude Atlanta?
Nammude Atlanta is run by a dedicated volunteer community team and guided by a Community Council with representatives for culture and arts, business owners, youth, families and women, newcomer families, seniors and professionals. It is an online platform, not another association.
Is my personal information safe with Nammude Atlanta?
Nammude Atlanta never sells your personal data. Businesses reach you only if you opt in, and they get aggregate insights, not your contact details. You can unsubscribe or leave any time and ask for your data to be removed.
